My Name is 'Billa'

The new remake of 'Billa' starring Ajith, Nayantara & Namitha is very stylish. I managed to catch up for the 6 o'clock show at Perling Mall. We were a group of 5 ladies. We were quite worried that tickets will be sold out for Thala's blockbuster movie so we got Vimala akka & Vani to buy the tickets an hour before the showtime. Sivanes akka, Nilasha and I got there at 5.45pm and not so bad, it wasn't that crowded. Happily bought some popcorns and beverages and went in.

The movie started and it goes superrrrrrrrrr.......

Nayantara looks stunning and gorgeous, yeah super sexy yo! She justifies the role. She was superb. Ajith on the other hand was simply looking stylish and handsome. Namitha looks very slim in this movie and the role given to her was not the sort where she can prove her talents. She was just a small part of the movie. The concept of the story is the same as the original 'Billa'. But this version is very class and trendy.

The movie is quite short, abt 2hr and 10 mins only, maybe it got censored or something, not sure. Anyway, after Sivaji, this is one movie not to be missed. My thumbs up for it.

Rain Rain Don't Go Away.......

I love to lie in my bed,
Listening to the rain,
It's rhythmic drumming on my window panes,
Making me roll over and sleep again,
The pitter patter of the rain,
Makes me feel secure and sane,
It's quickly pouring into the drain,
The parched earth,
Heaves a sigh of relief,
Everything is blue and wet,
But the storm isn't over yet,
Lightning dances across the sky,
Watching the black clouds way up high,
Thunder roaring fearlessly,
The sky is so dark and pale,
I pull my blanket closer around me,
Feeling lazy and pampered,
The raining season has come to refresh the earth.

New Year's Resolution

A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until the set goal has been achieved, although many resolutions go unachieved and are often broken fairly shortly after they are set.

Many New Year resolutions in the Western World involve maintaining peak vitality, physical fitness, or appearance. For example, one person's goal might be to reduce or to eliminate intake of alcohol or tobacco. The most common new year's resolution is weight loss. A student may make a resolution to stay focused in class or to complete all of his assignments. Resolutions to eat sensibly or increase exercise are also quite common.

The new year resolution is one example of the rolling forecast-method of planning. According to this method, plans are established at regular short or medium-term time intervals, when only a rough long-term plan exists. While a lot of people who make new year's resolutions do break them, it has been claimed that making resolutions is useful as it is some sort of a guideline to achieve the goal.
Here's the list of my resolutions:-
  1. Weight Loss - Normally, this will be the 1st thing in every ladies list. Being slim is one thing but keeping fit is more important. I got to get rid of the extras and stay healthy.... hmmmmm
  2. Sleep early - My mum always scold me for being awake during the wee hours of the night, like an owl. So I'm going to heed her advice and go to bed early, say about 10pm at least 4 days in a week.
  3. Save money - I'm the type of person who does not hesitate to buy the things which I need or want very badly. I will have to cut on the unnecessary expenses and save it for rainy days instead.
  4. Driving Licence - I've passed my theory and got my 'L' but have not gone for the 10hr lessons. Busy + Lazy. I got to start my lessons soon and hopefully get my full licence in the year 2008.
  5. Water Fountain - I've been wanting to buy a water-feature to place in my living hall but unfortunately I can't decide as in to install it permanently or buy the ready made type. I will finalise the perfect one which suits my home.
  6. Laughing Buddha - I have this idea of getting a gold coloured laughing Buddha which maybe stands tall of 60 to 80cm. I admire him so much, very cute and fat and the father of wealth........hehehe

As I have said before, some plans can be achieved and some are not. It needs good principals and attitude to fulfill one's goal. I will try to adapt to this concept and see how many I have achieved. And then will post it on next year's resolution. Sounds very challenging for me.

I will hook a few persons to post their new year resolutions too and the lucky ones are:-

Light Up

It's Karthigei and oils lamps are everywhere. The beauty of the lighted vilakku makes you feel very relaxed and harmony. It enhances more beauty and a magic glow to your house. Don't you agree?

In fact, every year, I will light up 54 oil lamps but this year I manage only 36. I always had a desire of lighting up 108 lamps. I'm crazy, i know. Maybe it can happen next year. hehehe........... Just lighting up is not enough, as you have to keep it lighted for at least 2 hours. You have to top up with more oil. 'Gracious oil lamps'. Today is the last day. Enjoy viewing some of the pictures I took once I lighted the vilakkus at home. May Lord Murugan bless us all.

Wishing everyone a Happy Karthigei

Finally!!!!

Just one more day to go, for deepavali celebrations. Back at home, we have already completed our tasks. So much of cleaning and re-arranging things, not forgetting the decorations too. The maid agency pissing me off. After all the hassle, the outcome turned out well. We are going to have a sparkling deepavali this year. I wish all my fellow bloggers who celebrate this joyous occasion a very 'Happy Deepavali'. Hope all of you have a wonderful time. I may not blog for another few days. Miss you all.......

Hallowe'en Day

Hallowe'en, name applied to the evening of October 31, preceding the Christian feast of Hallowmas, Allhallows, or All Saints Day. The observances connected with Hallowe'en are thought to have originated among the ancient Druids, who believed that on that evening, Saman, the lord of the dead, called forth hosts of evil spirits. The Druids customarily lit great fires on Hallowe'en, apparently for the purpose of warding off all these spirits.
Among the ancient Celts, Hallowe'en was the last evening of the year and was regarded as a propitious time for examining the portents of the future. The Celts also believed that the spirits of the dead revisited their earthly homes on that evening. After the Romans conquered Britain, they added to Hallowe'en features of the Roman harvest festival held on November 1 in honour of Pomona, goddess of the fruits of trees.

The Celtic tradition of lighting fires on Hallowe'en survived until modern times in Scotland and Wales, and the concept of ghosts and witches is still common to all Hallowe'en observances. Traces of the Roman harvest festival survive in the custom, prevalent in both the United States and Great Britain, of playing games involving fruit, such as ducking for apples in a tub of water. Of similar origin is the use of hollowed-out pumpkins carved to resemble grotesque faces and lit by candles placed inside. YOU MIGHT NEVER KNOW SOMEONE WILL BE VISITING YOU TONIGHT, SO LIGHT UP SOME CANDLES TO WARD OFF THE EVIL............Heheeeeeeeee

Update on Deepavali Preparations

Almost, 8 types of cookies are already baked for deepavali. Only left with orange biscuit which will be done today by myself and a cake which will be baked on the eve of deepavali. And i guess, my mum will make murukku and achi murukku in 2 days time. Yipee!

I cleaned my room yesterday, a total disaster, i couldn't believe that i had so much of rubbish in my cupboard and drawers. With the help of my hubby, we managed to clean our entire room, plus hanging of new curtains and servicing the air-cond. After all the hard work, my room is simply looking gorgeous and free from dust. So i just need to touch up a bit here and there before the festive. Our next project to complete is the living room and car porch area. Most probably, will clean up by this weekend. Thinking of getting a new carpet, perhaps red colour. Let's see if the director of the house (my mum) approves it. Looool...... I still need to do a bit more shopping on this thurs and fri. It has been quite tiring for me and my mum but we still have managed so far, especially during the baking time. Mother and daughter having so much of fun. I love you ma.

Things at my end is going smoothly. Will update more soon.

Cheers

World Friendship Week

To know someone here or there with whom you can feel there is understanding,
in spite of distances or thoughts expressed.
That can make life a garden.
A good friend remembers what we were and sees what we can be.
A friend is someone who is there for you when he'd rather be somewhere else.
A mirror reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown
by the kind of friends he chooses.
My best friend is the person who in wishing me well, wishes it for my sake.

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead
Just walk beside me and be my friend

This is a short friendship message I got from an email which I find it very meaningful and would like to dedicate it to all my fellow blog friends. You have been there to read all my posts and gave lovely comments, advises and also showed concern when I was unwell. Thank you so much for your support and for being my friend in the blog world. I appreciate that.

Wishing you guys a Happy Friendship Week!

Feverish Saturday

It's been a tough week for me. Besides being unwell, I've got tonnes and tonnes of work to do. So many tender quotations to go through. I'm sick and tired to go through the bunch of schematic plans. Boss, can I go for a week leave? Can you do the job for me? I need a breakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. Can I voice out the questions, my job will be at stake! Poor me.

Above all this, I am happy a little coz today is 1/2 day. And I am going out for lunch with my friends. We will be eating the famous chicken rice in Jaybeeee, the name of the shop is called 'Nasi Ayam Bazir'. They have been serving only chicken rice for the past 40 years. In those days, they have served for the Royal family too. Truly traditional, aromatic and yummylicious. It comes with a chicken soup, a plate of roasted chicken, fragrant rice, salad and vegetable, it's indeed a balanced meal. They use less oil and no MSG. A healthy shop isn't it?

Anyway, hope you guys have a great weekend. Me signing off here as I need to complete some work before I leave.

Cheers : )

Ok, this tag is all about, FMORT - Five Minutes Of Random Thoughts ..

Steps to follow:

Get an alarm/stop watch, piece of paper, pen or just open up a new post in which you can type in.. Set the alarm to ring 5 minutes 10 secs later. Take deep breath for 10 secs. Now, set your mind free. Scribble whatever comes to your mind for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, tweak the scribbles into meaningful sentences. Post it to your blog. The title should be, "My FMORT". Dont expand FMORT in the title as the purpose is to popularize FMORT. The first line should read, "I am tagged by XYZ", where XYZ should be the name of the blog who asked you to tag and link XYZ to the post. Then ask a fellow blogger to do the same and link to your post. Now sit back and relax.

You would be amazed at the speed with which FMORT spreads. And you will be one link of the long chain on Internet. So now its my chance to tag people , come on hands up.

Heaven on Earth

~ Shopping~
(5 & 6 Oct)
Hi guys, I know it has been quite sometime since I updated my blog. I've been busy shopping. I took 3 days leave since last Thursday. I visited my cousin sister at Bedok, S'pore, stayed there for 2 days. What else will I do, shopping, shopping, shopping and almost made a hole in my pocket. Hahahaz... I bought many stuffs and to tell you the truth I was having terrible headache while shopping maybe bcoz of the hot weather. The scorching sun was blazing like hell. I couldn't even eat much the 2 days, coz out of thirst, I drank a lot of water. My bro-in-law was so sweet enough to buy chendol and ice fruit jelly dessert for me n my cousin sis. After a tiring day, it was Heaven on Earth, you know. It was the best cold dessert I had in Bedok food court next to the MRT station. I came back home on Saturday night, feeling really exhausted and went straight to bed. Zzzzzz

~ Family Day~
(7 Oct)

Sunday was a family day for me as my brother's family came over for lunch. So, I helped my mum to cook and enjoyed playing with my nephews. The elder one is Kishoor, and he is a mini computer genius. He is only in Primary 4 and can handle the internet all by himself. He sends emails too. Oh my, I was not like that during that age. Shy off..... Second one is Daanesh, he is in primary 2, another cute fella, always begs his bro to let him play the games in the PlayStation. Kishoor always cheats him when it comes to Daanesh's turn to play. End up, I have to do the 'natamai thirppe'. Third one is Lakshman, going to K1 next year. He is quite plump and the naughty one in fact. The mastermind, who does things and put the blame on his brothers.

Ok where was I, oh, then we had lunch together and they left late afternoon as the kids had some homeworks to complete. Next, I watched Vasantham Star Semi-finals at 6pm with tense arousing in the air. All are good singers and they had different styles and vocals. Rekha was the only girl who managed to the semi-finals. She has improved a lot since her 1st day of entry. She sang very well that day and also presented herself as a natural singer. Bravo to her, I admired her singing skills but eventually, due to lack of SMS vote, she was out, which was quite shocking to me. Only Dinesh, Vignesh, Ebi Shankara and Devarajan entered for the Finals. Anyway, I hope this would be a stepping stone for her in the singing industry. My best wishes to her and really hope that she will pursue her singing skills in future. Will support you gal..... That was my Sunday.

~Sweet B'day~
(8 Oct)

I slept early that day coz I still haven't get over the tiredness. The clock stroked 12mdnite and my hp was buzzing like a bee non-stop. It was my B'day, a year older, and many sent sms and some called to wish me. It was so nice of them to remember and wished me. After all that, slept back as I have to wake up early at 7.00am and start to cook for lunch. Actually, I invited a few of my close friends, Sivanes, Mala and Vani over for lunch. I cooked Black Pepper Prawns and Mixed Vegetable and my mum cooked Chicken Masala, Egg Sambal, Coriander chutney and Pal Payasam. Yum Yum......

I received some nice gifts. Yipee! Mala bought a beautiful bag with sequence being sewed on it, goes well with sarees and she also bought a yumlicious Chocolate Cake from Seasons. Again, it was Heaven on Earth. Sivanes bought a pink necklace set with Swarowski stones. A classic piece and I love it so much. Vani bought a silver bracellet. I was glittering that day. Thank you so much dearies. My mum bought me a pair of gold earrings (Jimikki). I wore it the whole day. Thanks ma. My sweetheart bought for me a Gold mantra Ring from WOF. I have been wanting to buy it, my sweet hubby gifted me already. Thank you and like Prakashraj says in the Gilli movie, I love u chellam..... :p

To end it all, my hubby surprised me with a nice dinner at Pan Pacific Hotel's International Buffet. The spread was huge and mouth-watering. I had a sumptuous dinner and great service. Wonderful time spent with wonderful people on my Bday, It's Heaven on Earth. I will cherish it. : )
P.S. I couldn't post any pictures coz I'm having some problems with my reader so I will get it replaced soon.

Planning Day

With Deepavali around the corner, I've got a lot of things to do. Super Kanchiong!!!!! First of all, shopping for clothes and the ingredients for my cookies and cakes. I have to sit down with my mum and list down the items most probably by this weekend. Two brains is better than one, don't you agree?

And I've been trying to get a 3-tier tray, the ones used for high-tea sessions but nothing captured my eyes so far. See the diagram below.

Beautiful isn't it? I can't resist. I'm a person who enjoys nice English high-teas, especially with my friends, chatting and having fun. With cakes and pastries to drool everyone and a cup of tea or coffee, is simply awesome. I enjoy scones, eclairs and cakes so much. I guess I have a sweet-tooth, which is no good. Once in a while, its ok to indulge in it lah.... i don't mind closing one eye, after all, to make the afternoon an enjoyable one, everyone is happy, I'm happy too : )

Ok back to my planning. Next will be the tiring of all things, spring-cleaning of the house. Maybe, I would get a maid for a day or two from the agency to help me with the window cleaning coz I have 10 of them, huge ones in fact. A big headache. At least, my mum and I can escape from this nightmare. Lolz.... Anyway, we still got to clean up the house as usual.
Finally, I need to list down my guests list and the dates to do the open house. Normally, we will invite the non-indian friends and neighbours on the actual day. As for our relatives and other indian friends, we will invite them the next day onwards or the following weekends coz they will be celebrating the occasion at their homes too. It will go on for about 3 weeks. So this is a month, we will put on some extra weight coz we have to eat at every house we visit. I love to try out various types of food using different methods of cooking, it kind of make me improve my cooking. And you know, the Aunties are so kind that sometimes they share kitchen tips. (during ladies gossip time or sorry chit-chat) Hahaha......
Deepavali is such an auspicious day. I'm looking forward to it. So right now, planning is definitely necessary as at the end of the day, it will be a memorable one for everyone.

'Why the Wedding Ring is worn on the fourth finger'

This is interesting. Try it out!
Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger? There is a beautiful and convincing explanation .....
Thumb represents your Parents, Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings, Middle finger represents your-Self, Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner & the Last (Little) finger represents your children. Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back. Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip (As shown in the figure above):
Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later. Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)...., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives. Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)...., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day. Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse). You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT....., because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!! Please try this out.............
ISN'T THIS A LOVELY THEORY?

~ Happy B'day to you Mum ~

My special gift you've always known
One that you already see
You carry near by day & night
The very heart of me
My every breath you freely gave
But in return, what could I hope to give
For all gifts on earth just pale away
But that I ever live
Thus on this day to you I say
For giving all your heart
No other mum shall ever be mine
Our love can never part
Have a lovely day dear Mum
God bless you on your birthday and always
That is all I ask.
Love you loads.......

To My Love of My Life

Love is the greatest feeling,
Love is like a play,
Love is what I feel for you,
Each and everyday,
Love is like a smile,
Love is like a song,
Love is a great emotion,
That keeps us going strong,
I love you with my heart,
My body and soul,
I love the way I keep loving
Like a love I can't control,
So remember when your eyes meet mine,
I love you with all my heart
And I have poured my entire soul into you
Right from the very start,
So these 7 words, i pray you hold true,
"Forever & Always, I will love you"

Hope you like this poem. Advance birthday wishes to you, my love. The reason why I posted this now is because I will be busy later baking chocolate brownies cake for you. It is purely edible, so don't worry. I'm sure you going to love it.

Anyway, August 25th and you are a year older. My sincere wishes to you and hope that you will have a wonderful time tomorrow. Ok, that's it for now, I will shower you with more beautiful words on the actual day and make you feel like a mighty king. Hahaz

With lots of love & kisses........

Two Moons on August 27

According to the latest version of an email rumour circulating since 2003, August 27 will bring the closest 'encounter' between Mars and Earth in recorded history, and it will look as if there are two moons in the night sky.
----------
Email Sample:
*** Two moons on 27 August ***
27th Aug the whole world is waiting for .............
Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August.
It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will happen on Aug 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of Earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug 27 12.30am. It will look like the earth has two moons. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.
Share this with your friends as NO ONE ALIVE TODAY will ever see it again.
---------
The text of this rumour was roughly accurate when a version of it first began circulating in the year 2003, outdated when it went around again in 2005, and just plain false when it appeared for the third time in 2006. It is now 2007, and making the email rounds again. How many times can a " once in a lifetime" event occur?
The oscillating orbits of Mars and Earth did, in fact, bring the two planets closer together on August 27 2003 than at any other time during the past 50000 years. Though Mars never actually appeared "as large as the full moon" - not even close - it was indeed, for a few days in 2003, among the brightest objects in the night sky.
Nothing so spectacular is predicted for 2007. Let's wait and see how true this is. Anyway, I have bought some Mars chocolates already. If I don't get to see the Mars planet, I will just eat my Mars chocolate. Lol.......

Sneaky Calorie-Cutting Tricks

The equation for weight loss is simple: Burn more calories than you take in, and you'll lose weight. Fortunately, trimming calories doesn't have to mean radical changes to your diet. Making subtle, simple substitutions or changes in your meal and snack choices each day can add up over time. If you continue with these habits over time, you'll lose weight and keep it off long-term. Hence, some dietary swaps so tasty and easy to maintain, you won't even miss the missing calories.

Take it light

  • Rather than lighten your coffee with cream and sugar, make the switch to skim milk and a calorie-free sweetener. One tablespoon of cream and two teaspoons of sugar adds up to 90 calories. Using two tablespoons of skim milk (you'll probably want a little more for desired creaminess) and a packet of Splenda or Equal will deliver just 15 calories, for a savings of 75 calories.

Make a milk swap

  • Top off morning cereal with a lower-fat milk. Choosing one cup of one-percent milk instead of whole saves 45 calories. Switch to skim milk, and you'll slash 65 calories.

Scramble this

  • Next time you're scrambling up some eggs, try using egg whites instead. Instead of two scrambled eggs, mix one egg with an egg white, and you'll save 85 calories.

Sip wisely

  • Soft drinks and iced teas are typically loaded with calories, especially when they come in super-sized bottles. A 16-ounce bottle of coca cola, for instance, contains 182 calories, and 16.9-ounce bottle of iced tea has 186 calories. Trade regular soda for the diet version or, better yet, a bottle of water, and you'll nix all of those calories from your day.

Be sandwich savvy

  • Rather than slather your sandwich in mayonnaise, give mustard a try. It packs a flavor punch, plus it's calorie-free (versus the 95 calories per tablespoon of mayo). Can't give up the mayo? Try the lighter version instead, and you'll save 55 calories.

Ditch dried fruit

  • Reach for fresh fruits instead of dried versions, which are calorie dense and void of the water that makes fruit so filling. For instance, one cup of grapes contains 60 calories, compared to a cup of raisins, which carries a whopping 495 calories.

There are many other ways to cut the calories, we consume daily without realising it. Have a balance diet and exercise regularly. It can keep us healthy and fit all the time. Life is to live, live healthily. Good day....... : )

Happy B'day to u Pa

It's my daddy's birthday today. I wanna wish you all the happiness on earth and may all your wishes come true, pa. Oh gosh, you have turned 61 this year. Pa, I would like to take this great opportunity to tell you that we always love you and thanks for everything you have done for us. You have been a great dad and taught us to be good humans. You gave us a good home, good food, good education, good freedom and let us decide our own life. Anna has chose a good partner for him and I have chose a good hubby for myself. We just wanna thank you for all this. Anna, anni, Karthik and me will always be with you. We just want you to be happy always. I know its a bit sentimental here, but just to let you know that all of us love you so much......
Happy Birthday to you!
P.S. Not forgetting, mum's cooking your favourite briyani and mutton curry today. We shall feast on it later ok.

"The Best Salesman"

An indian moves to Montreal and goes to a big department store looking for a job. The manager asks, "Do you have any sales experience?" The Indian says, "Yeah, I was a salesman back home". Well, the manager liked the young man, so he gave him the job. "You start tomorrow. I'll come down after we close and see how you did, but let me give you a bit of advice. If a customer comes looking say, for toothpaste, you might suggest for him a toothbrush, or shaving cream etc. You get the idea?"
"Of course", the young man said. His first day on the job was rough but he got through it. After the store was locked up, the manager came down. "How many sales did you make today? The Indian says, "one". The manager groans, "Just one? Our sales people average 20 or 30 sales / day! How much was the sale for?" The Indian says, S101,237.64." The manager exclaims, "What? S101,237.64? What did you sell him?"
The Indian replied, "First I sold him a small fish hook. Then I sold him a medium fish hook. Then i sold him a larger fish hook. Then I sold him a new fishing rod. Then I asked him where he was going fishing, and he said down at the coast, so I told him he was going to need a boat, so we went down to the boat department, and I sold him that twin engine Chris Craft. Then he said he didn't think his Honda Civic would pull it, so I took him down to the automotive department and sold him that 4X4 Pajero." The manager says "You mean a guy came in here to buy a fish hook and you sold him a boat and truck!"
The Indian says, "No, no, no, he came in here to buy a box of laurier for his wife and I said, "Well, since your weekend's already screwed up you might as well go fishing!!"
The manager fainted.....
