A Coffee Cup

We always have an excuse to complaint but in actual fact we are too absorb in life and fail to enjoy the substance of life... A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups :porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all of you wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the better cups and are eyeing each other's cup.

Now, if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and positions in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life, but the quality of life doesn't change. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it. "So don't let the cups drive you....enjoy the coffee instead......"

I got this mail from my cousin. The moral of the story is interesting and I wanted to blog about it since morning but I just got the time to do it now. Though we are living in a society full of challenges and high competitors in career wise, we should never be too greedy and expect only the best of the best. The young generations of today are not able to take failures because they are being pampered too much. No doubt, when comes to work, we should be more aggressive to make achievements. Jealousy on one's progress is not healthy, in fact, it should only lead to a positive direction. Which means to say, we must put in more effort in our work and move ahead. My Ex-boss thought us that we should always work as a team and not step each other. A human body only works healthily if all the organ parts are functioning correctly. And if one organ is not doing its job properly, it will lead the body to fall sick. In this case, the body is referred to the company and the parts are the various departments. It sounded very logical to me and I'm pleased to share it here. At the end of the day, hard work pays. Someone is always watching us from the above.

GOD, of course....

you are 100% right dear! Striving for the best things and achievements we forget that success is based on the result given by all members. And if we fail, we fail together as well as when we succeed thats the achievement of all of us :)

And hard work definitely pays off :)
